Summary
We will depart from London on Friday evening and travel to our exclusive hire accommodation at Shackleton Lodge near Ambleside (Cumbria).
If you need a car share for this trip we can help organise this for you, just let us know when you book your ticket and we will reserve a place for you (first come first served basis). You are welcome to make your own way to Ambleside if you prefer.
For this weekend we have booked sole use of Shackleton Lodge in Windermere (You will need your own sleeping bag, pillows and towels). We are close to all the amenities in Ambleside, the location is also ideal for the places we will visit during the trip. The lodge is not staffed so we shall be self catering meals for the duration. There is a kitchen block and a purpose built barbecue area within the grounds. Alternatively Ambleside, a brisk walk away, has lots of great eateries

Shackleton-Lodge
Lake Windermere is a stone’s throw and the fells are on your doorstep.
On Saturday we will take a short drive to Wasdale where we will park the vehicles then begin the circular hike up to and around Scafell Pike (977m) – England’s highest Mountain. After the walk we will return to the accommodation for showers, before either having a barbecue or heading into town for our evening meal (which is optional, self-catering is also available for those who choose this option).

Scafell Pike (978m) England’s highest and probably most spectacular with its views
On Sunday, we will take an easy walk into Grasmere via Rydal Water. Once there, we will visit the famous Grasmere Gingerbread Shop – a tiny Lakeland shop in a 1630’s school stocking gingerbread, rum butter, fudge and mint cake. Victorian cook Sarah Nelson invented Grasmere Gingerbread® in 1854 in the English Lake District village from where it gets its name. We should be finished by 2pm and return to the vehicles and depart back to London – you can expect to be back in London by about 7-8pm Sunday evening.
