We will depart from London on Thursday evening and travel to our exclusive hire accommodation (Shackleton Lodge) near Ambleside (Cumbria).

If you need a car share for this bank holiday trip we can help organise this for you, just email us once you book your ticket and we will reserve a place for you (first come first served basis).  You are welcome to make your own way to Ambleside if you prefer.

For this Easter bank holiday weekend we have booked sole use of Shackleton Lodge in Windermere (You will need your own sleeping bag, pillows and towels).  We are close to all the amenities in Ambleside, the location is also ideal for the places we will visit during the trip.  The lodge is not staffed so we shall be self catering meals for the duration.  There is a kitchen block and a purpose built barbecue area within the grounds.  Alternatively Ambleside, a brisk walk away, has lots of great eateries.

Lake Windermere is a stone’s throw and the fells are on your doorstep

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings we can either eat out as a group in Ambleside or self-cater (or barbecue) at the accommodation.

During the long weekend we will walk to many spectacular and famous areas and locations.  Planned locations (but not limited to)include:

Helvellyn (third highest mountain in England) – 950m with Striding Edge Option – probably the most spectacular ridge walk in Britain

Striding Edge and Red Tarn from Helvellyn

Rydel Water and Loughrigg Fell – 335m

Stony Pike Cove – 763m; Red Screes – 776m; Dove Crag – 792m; Hartsop above How – 882m

The Langdales & Terns – 736m; Stickle Tarn; Blea Tarn
