Tuesday 2nd September

Leave Gatwick on Easyjet flight 8474 departing at 13:45 bound for Geneva. We will be collected at the airport and driven to Les Houches. Our accommodation is Chalet Refuge Michel Fagot (room only). Since we are in a decent sized town we will eat out and buy any supplies we need.

Wednesday 3rd September

Our Tour Du Mont Blanc hike begins! Our destination is Les Contamines which we will reach after 18km and 1478 metres of ascent and 1318 metres of descent. Our accommodation will be Chalet Nant Borrent where we have half board so evening meal provided. Les Contamines has shops, banks, ATM’s so is a good place to buy any items and snacks you want as it’s the last chance before we reach Courmayeur.

Thursday 4th September

After eating breakfast (included) we will head to Les Chapieux taking the longer route via Col des Fours resulting in a day of 20km and 1579 metres of ascent and 876 metres descent. Accommodation will be at Refuge des Mottets (half board) where evening meal included.

Friday 5th September

After enjoying the included breakfast we will begin our day. Today we cross into Italy and this will be one of the easier days of the hike. Likely to take only 4 hours we can relax and enjoy the scenery at Col de la Seigne and still check-in to our accommodation at Rifugio Elisabetta (half board) in good time to enjoy the sunsets that it’s known for.

Saturday 6th September

After breakfast we will hike to Courmayeur, a distance of about 20km with 460 metres of ascent and 1560 metres of descent. Accommodation will be Pensione Venezia (room only) in the heart of town. Since this is another busy town we will head out to eat and this is also a good chance to buy supplies.

Sunday 7th September

After breakfast (not included) we will begin hiking on what is a highlight in terms of views. Distance will be no more than 16km with 1597 metres of ascent. Accommodation will be Rifugio Bonatti (half board).

Monday 8th September

Today sees us leave Italy and cross into Switzerland. We descent into Val Ferret, pass Rifugio Elena before our arriving at our destination at La Fouly. Distance covered 20km with 895 metres of ascent. Accommodation is Chalet le Dolent.

Tuesday 9th September

Another easy day of hiking with only 15km and 420 metres of ascent. The walk takes place in a typical Swiss valley which will provide an interesting contrast to the dramatic mountain views of the past few days. Our accommodation in Champex will be Pension En Plein Air (half board).

Wednesday 10th September

Today’s hike is to Col de la Forclaz and there are 2 possible routes. If the weather is good we will do the harder more spectacular route which will be 14km with 1200 metres of ascent. Accommodation will be Hotel de la Forclaz where we have a dorm on half board basis.

Thursday 11th September

Today we again get great views of Mont Blanc as we cross back into France. Distance is 13km with 1069 metres of ascent. Destination is Tre-le-Champ and accommodation Auberge la Boerne (half board).

Friday 12th September

Today is relatively easy with only 733 metres of ascent. We will pass stunning scenery including glaciers and Lac Blanc. Our destination is La Flégère where we have half board accommodation at Refuge La Flégère.

Saturday 13th September

Our final day of hiking! We will get great views of Mont Blanc from Le Brévent from where it is a steep and tiring descent to Les Houches. Total distance 17km. Accommodation will again be Chalet Refuge Michel Fagot (room only). We will eat out to celebrate the end of this classic mountain route.

Sunday 14th September

After checking out of our accommodation there will be some time to shop and see the town before getting a transfer from Les Houches to Geneva airport for Easyjet flight 8475 departing at 16:00 back to Gatwick.

Please note that spaces are limited on this trip. You need to register online if interested. If you are new to the group we will ask you some basic questions about your hiking experience to make sure you are able to complete this walk. Then you will be asked to pay a £300.00 deposit.
