The United Kingdom has 15 National Parks; Britain’s breathing spaces. Let’s Explore!
The London Adventure Group began in July 2008 but can trace its history back to 2004. Originally called Heathrow Hikers, the group organised hundreds of trips in the UK and overseas before changing its name in 2008 to reflect the fact it was organising more types of events including watersports and other adventure activities.
The group attracts a wide range of people, typically aged mid 20’s to 40 and over. Most of our members are from the London area but we welcome people from all over the UK. Many join the group to escape London at weekends but also to see some great scenery and meet like minded people who also have an interest in the great outdoors.
We welcome people of all experience levels. Everyone has to start somewhere and all we ask is that you make sure you have the right clothing and equipment so that you are safe and enjoy the experience. There is no formal process to joining the group and no membership fee. Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to attend our events. New trips are added all the time but spaces can sometimes sell out quickly. The best way to keep informed about new events is either to ‘like’ our Facebook page or sign up to our Email Newsletter (there is a form at the bottom of our contact us page).
To secure a space on an event you need to use our online shopping cart. Payments are via Paypal’s secure website. You do not need to have a Paypal account to use Paypal as it allows you to use most debit and credit cards without logging in. If an event you are interested in has already sold out you will be invited to register for the waiting list. We do get some cancellations and do contact the waiting list when a space becomes available on a previously sold out event. If you have any questions about an event please contact us.
What Our Members Are Saying
North Pennines Walking Weekend (March 2014) was my first trip with London Adventure Group, though I’ve been trying to make it with the group for the last couple of years. It was a much needed break and I felt reborn.
Gary did a splendid job of leading the group, very professionally done. Magnificent beauty, friendly & diverse crowd and amazing fun! Tucked away in my memories forever!Gayathrisai
The London Adventure Group’s trips are awesome! They go to the most beautiful places and are so reasonably priced. Gary runs the group really professionally and is dead nice – just the sort of person you want to be in charge of a group of strangers (soon to become friends) going away together.
If you’re hesitating about going on a trip – just go for it! What have you got to lose?! 🙂Claire
Have been away a few times with Gary and London Adventure Group and have enjoyed every moment. The groups are always friendly and fantastically organised. The walks are very well planned out and take into account of the abilities of the group. There is always a balance between old and new faces which keeps the group fun and always great to meet and make new friends.Anthony
This is one of the best organised and most relaxed groups I’ve ever joined. That’s a hard combination to achieve but Gary manages it, with aplomb!
It attracts a mix of nationalities and ages – friendly people who enjoy chatting and socialising while seeing great places in Britain and overseas. The hostel accommodation, in my experience, has always been comfortable and warm with plentiful hot showers at the end of the treks.
I’d unhesitatingly recommend the London Adventure Group. Go for it!Brid
The London Adventure Group is unique in that founder Gary knows so many sublime walks and has formidable experience in organising hikes at all levels of difficulty over many years, yet treats fellow walkers like grown ups, making it so much more enjoyable for everyone, whether new to this friendly group or an old LAG like me, returning for more fun and the challenges of new adventures in the great outdoors.Bernie
I can’t rate these trips highly enough. Well organised and fun breaks to all the well known places, but also less well known destinations so that you can explore the countryside without being in a tourist hot-spot.
Gary has such a thorough knowledge of the UK countryside that you can guarantee great walking in the best locations, I especially recommend trying some of the less well known places if you are non-UK born as you will see the real UK.Richard
