Boating Holidays
The UK has lots of waterways perfect for a boating holiday. The boats we will use are either cruisers or narrowboats and popular locations include The Norfolk Broads, Scottish Lochs and the canals and rivers of the UK.
Norfolk Broads
The Broads were formed in medieval times when people dug for peat and they then later flooded. With 125 miles of navigable waterways, there are lots of places to moor up and visit including pretty villages, towns, and some good pubs and restaurants. The Broads are also a great place for wildlife.
A Norfolk Broads boating holiday is a relaxing one, the cruisers are limited to about 5 mph and the pace of life just feels much more relaxed than London.
Scottish Lochs
Scotland has so much amazing scenery. Boating holidays take place on Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and Loch Ness. As an outdoor group, it would make sense to combine a boating trip to Scotland with some Munro bagging.
UK Canals
There are many canals suitable for a narrowboat holiday. Possible canals include:
- Grand Union Canal
- Kennet and Avon Canal
- Oxford Canal
- Stourport Ring
- Llangollen Canal
- Cheshire Ring
- Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal
- Caledonian Canal
